This is a post where I Name & Shame.
I don’t usually do name and shames but this is just ridiculous. DO NOT, and I really mean, DO NOT join it.
dogforum.com.au is a new forum that was recently created to provide a space for pure and cross-breed owners. The administrators and moderators of the forum do not understand what is the definition of the word ‘forum’.
- –noun, plural
- 1. the marketplace or public square of an ancient Roman city, the center of judicial and business affairs and a place of assembly for the people.
- 2. a court or tribunal: the forum of public opinion.
- 3. an assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest.
- 4. the Forum, the forum in the ancient city of Rome.
A forum post started, saying that there is an ad online somewhere selling Pomeranians x Siberian Husky puppies. (This special cross-breed is called – ‘Pomsky‘.) She started to rubbish the advertisement as she contacted the seller, but did not meet the cut to view the puppies. Mind you, these pups are rare cross-breeds that there is none available in Australia until this ad appeared. There was only one other successful litter in America. No more after that until now. This forum poster said that she was not allowed to view the pups and decided that it is a money-making scam and that these pups do not even exist. Some other posts after hers added that even if it were true, the dog parents will have to be forced into mating, that it was unnatural.
Participant X (the pup seller) found that post and decided to register into the forum to advise that the pups are indeed true and real. The mating was purely an accident where her male Siberian Husky somehow got to her female Pomeranian in their house. Due to personal (medical) matters that took Participant X and family to the hospital, Participant X couldn’t watch over the dogs and that was when the dogs were in heat and mated. Participant X did not know that the Pomeranian was pregnant until it was late into the pregnancy. Aborting the babies will be life-threatening to the mother Pomeranian. Participant X had no choice but to leave the pregnancy and hope for the best. …and out came 7 little Pomskies.
After Participant X explained the situation and that Participant X really wants these pups to go to loving homes and the cost to adopt the pups is just to cover their expenses of vet checks, and even testing (through Animal Network) to check that these pups are healthy and will be fine on their own. More posters decided to come on-board the forum thread and rubbish her statements, all demanding for pictures of the litter. Participant X refused as Participant X has received many emails (well over 1,000) requesting for pictures and to view. Participant X did send out pictures to someone before all the attention, and that person sold the pictures off.
Yes, the Pomskies are that rare. You won’t actually get something like that from a common breed. Participant X has the choice to whom she would like to come view the pups and also be adopted by.
(Not knowing that dogform.com.au existed) I contacted Participant X through the advertisement and finally received a response after a couple of email follow ups, and I was one of the lucky ones to view the pups. I fell in love with them. And I was also lucky enough to adopt one of them. Knowing the rareness of this cross-breed, she could have easily sold each of them for $5,000, but that was not the case. They are THAT gorgeous.
After looking online for more information, I found dogforum.com.au and found the thread, and I felt compelled to jump to Participant X’s defense. I registered and went straight into the thread confirming to all concerned that the pups are real and I have even gotten one for myself. As expected, they rubbish my statements and said that I am the same person as Participant X trying to promote something that doesn’t exist and that I was out for cash. One of the Pomsky pup adopters also posted something similar, as he/she has taken the pup home and is loving it, but the forum guys still thought it was a scam and that Participant X and that other buyer were the same person.
After a few posts on the forum, I was banned.
Reason? I felt that I posted something that was the truth but no one would listen, and believe. The administrators and moderators wanted to only believe what they wanted to believe. Anything else is a lie. Just because Pomkies are rare, and they have never seen one before, they were happy to say they don’t exist… not naturally even if they do exist. And just because Participant X was very careful about who gets access to these pups, it fueled their anger to rubbish the truth. Participant X was also banned from the forum, the other Pomsky adopter suffered the same fate as well.
The same thing happened in their Facebook Page as well. People who complained about the forum were kicked off the page and their comments removed.
Face it dogforum.com.au, you are NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Take it as a hint to improve your forum management skills, and not diminish the reason for your forum. Be assured that from this day onwards, I will be shaming your forum and Facebook Page.
Here is a picture of 2 of the pups. Aren’t they gorgeous? I took them. Only 8.5 weeks old. How is that for proof, bitches!
